About Us | Poof Bags
At Poof, We want to share the truth about Biodegradable Plastic Bags and provide a real sustainable solution, due to the misleading information provided by companies selling biodegradable plastic bags presented as "eco friendly"
With 500,000,000 (five hundred million) dog poop bags used annually around the world, hundreds of thousands of marine animals die and pollution caused by burning the piles of plastic waste leads to breathing problems and cancer.
Biodegradable plastic bags, also known as Oxo-biodegradable plastic, are made of plastic with a chemical named EPI added during the manufacturing process.
EPI accelerates the breakdown of the plastic bags but Instead of fully biodegrading, they break down into smaller pieces, known as Microplastics. These small particles end up washing away with rain to the sea, poisoning fish and other marine animals. Some of the fish are eaten by humans with the small plastic particles they contain, leading to numerous health issues.
Other particles are carried by air and cause lung issues such as asthma and lung cancer.
For that reason, the EU will completely ban all plastic products made of Oxo-degradable plastic, from July 2021.
"Article 5 of the Directive states “Member States shall prohibit the placing on the market of the single-use plastic products listed in Part B of the Annex and of products made from oxo-degradable plastic"
At Poof, we manufacture real Biodegradable Compostable Poop Bags, made of Cornstarch. Unlike a conventional plastic bag that can take up to 500 years to disintegrate, bags made of cornstarch completely break down after 90 days, leaving nothing behind.
At Poof, we use natural cornstarch and use pure water based colors. Our truly eco-friendly poop bags completely dissolve within 90 days, leaving absolutely nothing behind.
By using Poof Bags biodegradable poop bags, the amount of waste we leave behind us will dramatically decrease, saving marine animals, human lives and underground water reservoirs.
Poof. Bags that won't outlive you.
